This is a long delayed blog post. To give you an idea of when it was supposed to be published, I was going to use this to blog post to announce my “hiatus” during staff training in August… But now we’re in October and I’ve done a photo shoot just about every weekend (or more) while at CMU, so there’s that.
Anyhow, to bring you up to speed, we’ll have a short list of some of the bigger shoots that I did in the rest of my summer before coming back to Mt. Pleasant. Continue reading “Plenty of Catching Up”
There’s so much to share from this trip that it’s overwhelming. Emotionally, it was a roller coaster – it began with chaotic flights, loneliness, and minimal food to walking everywhere with good company and eating so much that we could barely move afterward. The people I met were the most important component of this trip, and the main reason for every bit of joy and every memory. I’ll do my best to string all of our crazy little stories together in a narrative to give you a glimpse of the people I met in our time together in Italy.

The last few weeks have been fun and busy. Between prepping for a trip to Florence creating tons of new work, and seeing friends, there has been plenty to do. Instead of a long, reflective intro, we’ll just jump into shoot descriptions this time around!
The first full week of June, my absolutely wonderful photo pal Alex came to Detroit to visit me and a few other people. Together, we went exploring downtown: from the tops of a parking garage to some of the smallest pizza places, we stopped in some great locations for photos. However, before that…

If you’re following my adventures on Instagram, then you’ve seen that I model regularly for my friends and fellow photographers, with Alex being the person you’ve probably seen the most photos from.
You also may have noticed that I’ve been spotty in terms of presence on the platform – that’s because of school. No matter how much I love photography, as a student, I recognize that education is my highest priority. Part of my education helps me learn how to be better with photography, so it certainly is a bit of a trade off! When summer comes around, it’s likely I’ll be posting model calls weekly.
Now that midterms are over, I had some breathing time to catch up on some editing that I had put aside in favor of studying – so there are some new photos up on my Facebook page! I released them there first this time – check them out here!

Okay, okay. So it’s been a little longer than a few weeks. I’ve been going nonstop almost every day from the time I wake up until an hour before the time I go to bed, so I haven’t had much time to blog.
Starting exactly a month ago, I started training to be a Resident Assistant on Central Michigan University’s campus, something that I’ve wanted for a long time. And I’m finally here! I moved in, I helped the first wave of residents move in, then the second, then the third. I spent a ridiculous amount of time with my staff, and we became a family in no time at all. I finally got to see a few people’s weird sides (I’m looking at you, Brad) and got the opportunity to make art with another (Markus, you’re just permanently on call for modeling for me).
Since my residents have come, classes have also started. I scheduled myself for the heaviest semester (classwork-wise), but also the most interesting. I’m excited for this semester’s classes to kick into full swing.
Okay, now for the more interesting things. I’ve kept up on taking photos and HECK let me tell you, I feel pretty good about how much I’ve grown since last year. In the last few weeks, Alex, Quinn, and Baylen have all been in front of my camera – all people that have also been behind the camera when I’m around. We’ve done some crazy cool things.
